Nepal lost to Pakistan by 122 runs in the ICC Under-19 World Cup’s fifth place play-off semi-final match on Tuesday in Bangladesh.
Put to bat first after losing the toss, Pakistan scored 278 runs at the loss of eight wickets in their 50 overs. Hashan Moshin top-scored for Pakistan with 117 runs followed by Saif Badar with 88 runs. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets in the innings while Aarif Sheikh and Dipendra Singh Airee took two wickets each.
In response, Nepal were bowled out for 136 runs in 43.3 overs. Prem Tamang top-scored with 65 runs. Moshin took four wickets to restrict Nepal. His brilliant batting and bowling was awarded with Man-of-the-match award.
Nepal will now play the loser of Wednesday’s match between England and Namibia to be held on Thursday to decide the seventh and eighth team of the tournament. The winner of the match will get direct entry to the next edition of ICC Under-19 World Cup.
