Consulate of Nepal seeks support

2015-04-28, RSS

Nepal suffered a major earthquake (7.8 on the richter scale) just before noon on Saturday 25 April. This has been followed by a series of aftershock earthquakes that continue to terrify the residents. The epicenter of the main earthquake was approximately 50km outside Kathmandu with ripple effects to parts of Northern India, Bangladesh and Tibet. The last earthquake of such magnitude occurred in Nepal in 1934. All the Nepalese residing outside Nepal along with the entire world communities are overwhelmed and shocked by this devastating news as media images flood in and reports of the dead climb to over 3000. The Office of Consulate of Nepal would like to thank everyone for their concerns and offer of assistance and support. The Consulate office is currently working closely with the Embassy of Nepal in Canberra, Nepalese organisations e.g. NAV, NRNA and other community organisations for fundraising and to send support to Nepal. Meanwhile, the Consulate Office would like to urge the Australian Government Agencies, Corporates, Non-Profit Organisations and Individuals to join hands in the relief effort and provide any possible support to the earthquake victims in Nepal. For further details, contact Hon. Consul General of Nepal to Victoria, Mr. Chandra Yonzon or
