After a hit in Brisbane, Nepal Festival Sydney 2016 has been an official success as well. With thousands of attendees, Sydney side Nepalese had immense fun at Darling Harbour on Saturday. The next chapter will be held in Melbourne on December 17th.
Thr program started at 10 a.m. and the chief highlights were Nepalese band Kandara and other artists such Sugam Pokhrel, Anju Pant, and Manju Poudel. Over 2 dozen local artists also presented their talents. There was also a cultural fashion parade in which attires from all communities and one reflecting Prithvi Narayan Shah were adorned. Supported by Nepal Tourism Board there was an informative section upon all regions of Nepal – namely, Terai, Hills and Mountains. 35 proud stalls held the Nepalese and Australian flag high. Whilst some of the stalls served Nepalese cuisine food, some were of Australian based Nepalese businesses, mostly consultancies with information for students, residents and elderlies.
Chief Guest to Nepal Festival Sydney 2016 was Foreign Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat. Other important guests were NRN ICC President Shesh Ghale, Vice President Kumar Pant, Senator Sam Dastyari, NSW Multi Cultural Minister representative Mark, NRN secretary Indra Ban, Nepal’s ambassador to Australia Rajendra Pande, Hon. Consul General to NSW Dipak Khadka, Hon. Consul General to Victoria Chandra Yonzon.
With great fervor and success the festival ended with a hit numbers from all bands rocking Sydney until late.
