Nepal Festival 2016 Melbourne Chapter is drawing close and preparations are in frenzy. In a program organised on Saturday, NRN Australia stated the preparations that have been made till date.
‘Almost 34 community organizations, including Nepalese Association of Victoria were a part of this discussion to make the festival a grand success’, said Keshav Kandel, NRN Australia’s Vice President and Victoria’s convener. Inputs were also given by NAV’s President Dr. Anupam Pokhrel, community elderlies Bom Yonzon, Dipa Rai, Ram Kumar Shrestha. The parade organizer this year is Tara Gair, who bears the responsibility of reflecting Nepalese traditions, art, and attire.
Niru Tripathi, Public Relations Manager of The Consulate office who is responsible for the VIP/VVIP invites disclosed the list of confirmed attendees.
An interesting suggestion was made by Tonu Ghotane, NRN Australia’s Secretary. He suggested running a social media campaign under the name of “Tag a mate, Bring a Mate” to attract international attendees along with our fellow Nepalese. Under the campaign, one has to tag a mate of other community, and bring him to the festival, and shall run a chance of winning and Ipad.
Speaking at the program, Chiranjebi Devkota, Victoria’s representative for Nepal Tourism Board said that we should look into the possibilities of screening of the footage in a Nepalese channel. “This would enable people in Nepal know what Nepalese in Australia are doing”, he added.
Speaking at the program, Hon. Consulate General to Victoria Chandra Yonzon, said that this festival is for all Nepalese, regardless of communities and should serve the same message. He also added that invitations are being sent out to high level officials of Victoria.
