Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', who is on an official visit to China, observed the ancient Potala Palace in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, today. The PM Dahal-led delegation was welcomed at Lhasa airport by employees of Consulate General of Nepal in Tibet including Consul General Gobinda Bahadur Karki. On the occasion, Dahal, who reached Lhasa today morning after a tour of Chengdu, the capital of China's Sichuan province, held a bilateral meeting with Chairman of Tibet Council Qi Zinh, said PM Dahal's private secretariat. During the meeting, the two leaders are said to have discussed a variety of issues of mutual and bilateral interests. Earlier, Consul General Karki apprised PM Dahal of the role of the Consulate General in further strengthening relations between Nepal and China. PM Dahal is scheduled to return home on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile in KTM Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr Rishi Adhikari has said that PM Dahal's China visit was successful. At an interaction programme organized by Reporters Club in the capital city on Thursday, Dr Adhikari said that PM Dahal's 45 minutes long talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping was crucial. He also added that China's pledge for financial assistance for the local level polls in Nepal and other issues made the visit completely successful. Dr Adhikari said that the deals agreed between Nepal-China by the last government are on the way to implementation and added both sides are doing homework for the same. Likewise, Nepal's former ambassador to China Tanka Karki said Prime Minister's China visit was successful to promote goodwill between the two nations. Karki commented that PM's address to the regional multidimensional forum—Boao Forum for Asia—was a great achievement for Nepal. Karki shared that China was repeatedly expressing its concerns for the implementation of bilateral agreements inked during the KP Sharma Oli-led government.
