Gorkhali Cup 2017: Royal Rhinos bat their way to victory

Royal Rhinos Cricket Club has lifted the first ever Gorkhali Cup.Playing against Sagarmatha Cricket Club. Royal Rhinos clinched their 122 runs target in 18.2 overs. Organised by Gorkhali Cricket Club, the tournament was held in TW Blake Park on the 23rd and 24th September, and the finals on 1st October. This victory is the second for Royal Rhinos in 2017, the first one being the winners of VNCA Super Six Cup in March.

The finals was an interesting game, with Sagarmatha CC batting first and giving a target of 122 runs. Asim Subedi contributed 59 runs for his team Sagarmatha CC. Mukesh from RRCC bagged two crucial wickets and Captain Sunam Gautam of RRCC led his team to victory with 51 runs, not out.

Best Bowler :- Chiranjeebi/RRCC 8 wickets
Best Fielder : - Kamlesh Ghimire/RRCC
Best Wicket keeper: - Sussan Gurung/SCC
Man Of the Series :- Sunam Gautam/RRCC

Various members of the Nepali Community attended the finals, including members of Chitwan Samaj Victoria, NAV, Hon. Consul. General Chandra Yonzon, NAV President Dr. Anupam Pokhrel, NRN Australia President Tonnou Ghothane, who handed the shield to the victorious team.

Established in 2016, organizers of the tournament Gorkhali Cricket Club held the tournament with great success. Within a year of their formation, they have shown progressive strides, coming runners up in their first NAV Cup, 1st runners up in VNCA Super Six cup. They are also working towards forming a women’s team.
