Nepali cricket enthusiasts now have a chance to participate in a champion’s league tournament organized by Melbourne Renegades. Interested people have to register by the 16th of October. To do so by follow the link.
Cricket Australia’s Community Ambassador Tara Gair has said that the invitation is being sent out to create a Nepali team to participate in the ‘Country of Origin Champions League T20’. Nepali team in the previous year had advanced up to the semi-finals.
Trials will be held on the 29th of October out of which the best 15 will play for ‘Team Nepal’. The team will then play against 6 teams from their league, and the best 2 will proceed towards the Champions League. “Selections of a similar nature is being held in other states as well. This is a good opportunity for Melbourne based Nepali cricketers”, said Gair. The team will also play against regional clubs of Melbourne Renegades, thus a gaining good exposure and experience. Other participating teams from South Asia shall be India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
To develop community cricket, Cricket Australia had nominated Tara Gair, Anita Sapkota, and Sunam Gautam as ambassadors.
